Beckie Reed graduated with a first-class degree in Fine Art from Loughborough University in 2004. Since then she has exhibited in Cambridge, Bath, Norfolk, Brussels and Amsterdam. She joined Quantum in January 2010 and we have since shown her work at the London Art Fair in Islington, at our gallery in Battersea and at art fairs in Toronto, Chicago, New York and the Far East. She lives and works in East Anglia with her artist husband and their two children. Her paintings often depict the enchanted forests nearby that she loves to go on long walks through. She says of her work “I feel free and alive when I’m in the countryside on a long walk and there’s something magical and evocative about being in the woods. I aim to create beautiful paintings that capture the changing light and create a sense of escapism for the viewer.”
Her paintings have an extraordinary depth and perspective, enhanced by her frequent use of enamel paint to depict the trunks of the trees… Visitors to art fairs frequently tell us that they feel drawn into the work, wanting to explore the woods and the paths.
