Ron Lawson is an artist of unique style and outstanding technique. His exceptional representation of the remote and majestic Scottish scenery has gained him a large following in the UK and abroad, resulting in his remarkable ascendancy towards a deserved reputation as Scotland’s most distinctive contemporary artist. Born in 1960, Ron spent his early years on a farm in Mid-Lothian Scotland before a career took him to the art studio of publishers DC Thomson in Dundee where he progressively developed the dynamic and highly individual palette and technique that is central to his work today. For over 20 years, Ron has spent a great deal of time exploring the Western Isles and is deeply inspired by the people, lifestyles and landscape of these sparsely populated dramatic outposts. His current body of work evokes the vast open space and brooding skies of the Outer Hebrides, Inner Hebrides and Scottish mainland and celebrates the wild remoteness, peace and simplicity of these extremely treasured parts of Scotland. In 2010 after 35 years, Ron left his career to concentrate his time fully on painting. His unique Scottish landscapes appeal to an international audience and feature in many private collections worldwide. Ron regularly exhibits with Quantum in London and overseas in the US, Canada and the Far East.
