Kate Montgomery has exhibited with Quantum Contemporary Art since 2000. She trained at The Ruskin School of Drawing & Fine Art , University of Oxford, graduating in 1988. She graduated with an MA in Fine Art at The Royal College of Art in 1992. In the same year she was Artist in Residence at the Prince of Wales’ Institute of Architecture. Her work is collected internationally and is regularly selected for The RA Summer Show and The Discerning Eye . She was artist in residence at Glynebourne Opera House in 2008. Her painting ‘Beauty Spot’ was exhibited in the Threadneedle Prize shortlist exhibition in 2009. Kate lives on the English south coast: sources for her paintings are found through walking in the Sussex countryside, running by the sea, and the interiors and gardens of Georgian and Victorian houses and museums in Brighton and Hove. Her paintings often suggest interior spaces associated with female responsibility, creativity and desire – silent houses with children outside, workrooms,… a costume gallery. Real time and space are avoided, permitting personal histories and fictions to be evoked. She has been a lecturer at the Royal College of Art and at Central St Martins. Her work is in the collections of Vivien Duffield, Elizabeth Esteve-Coll and HRH The Prince of Wales. Quantum exhibits her work at international art fairs including Toronto Art Fair, Art Palm Beach, New York Expo, Seattle, Singapore, Hong Kong AAF as well as 20/21 International Art Fair and The London Art Fair.
